Somewhere Safe

Now I’m getting older, my thoughts are more profound

There’s things I keep on losing but one thing that I’ve found

And I hope that I can keep it,  while I sing this song

For the thing I keep on losing,  it’s my memory that’s gone

I get up in a hurry and I’m out just by and by

But when I get to where I’ve gone, I stand and wonder why ?

Why have I come to over here and though I search my brain

I have to go back where I was and start over again

I  have a favourite item,  it’s priceless, it’s unique

So I put it somewhere special, somewhere no one will peek

I put it somewhere that is safe, somewhere no one will see

But the only one it’s safe from is from forgetful me

I see someone approaching, its what’s his name from where ?

I’ve known him since I was kid but his name its just not there

Is he an old work mate or my best pal at school ?

He’s just walked on by so p’raps I don’t know him at all

I took a message for you, when you were out of town

I put the paper somewhere with the details I wrote down

I put it somewhere special, I tried to do my best

I know its somewhere very safe – I think you know the rest !
