Old Leigh Names
 

The old town of Leigh it grew and grew

With lots of people but with families few

There were so many there that were called the same

They were told apart by their Leigh nicknames

There was Onions Taylor and Dinah Kerry

Banger Prior and Tarpot Perry

And with family members by the score

There was even a Bibles Livermore

There was Nobby Meddle and Boy Oh Hills

Old Mr King he was known as Trill

And when Mrs Cotgrove a name couldn’t finda

They called her offspring Cotgrove China

Mr Johnson he was known as Skipper

And Mr Little well he was Kipper

And when the Partridge family growth began

The next one along was called Pelican

The people of Leigh thought it’d be nicer

If they called Mr Plumb by the name of Ricer

And in the Billet if Oliver they talka

They’d call him by the name of Walker
