The Hoy Shanty Crew

Hoy at Anchor    Hoy Diary   Hoy Singers Night   Hoy Songs

The Hoy Shanty Crew was formed several years ago
quickly became
an integral part of the folk scene in Essex.

The 'Crew' has performed at many events and festivals and has a reputation
for gutsy and passionate rendering of shanties as well as other chorus songs,
particularly if they involve the partaking of beer.

The current crew consists of Tony Prior, Derek 'Otto' Oliver, Dave Symonds,
Allan Barttram, Ron Hill, Terry Docherty, Keith Baxter and Steve Ramm.

You can often catch members of the crew singing at The Hoy at Anchor Folk Club
and they will be performing both days at the Folk n Ale Festival
over St George's Day Weekend at the wet end of Southend Pier
as well as the forthcoming Hoy at Anchor Folk Club Special Night
remembering Jack Forbes in April.

The passing to higher service of Jack Forbes in 2016

was a bitter blow to The Shanty Crew.

Jack's songs, his singing, his contribution to folk music

and his support & friendship will be sorely missed.
